This was a job I've made for the cover of Veja São Paulo. The theme was: "Art: how to get into this universe". Unfortunatelly they didn't pick my illustration, again! A friend of mine, the very talented Orlando, was the lucky one.

Step-by-step / Passo-a-passo
This is an illustration I've done last week for Veja (a brazilian weekly magazine). The subject was "Dieting puts weight on you" so I though it was a good idea to use the beauty ideal of Botticelli's Venus and then add an accordeon to play the part the cycle of quick weight loss, followed by a rebound weight gain . The editor found it was not obvious enough, so I added a scale on the bottom, as you can see on the second image. Nonethless, it proved not to be good enough and they've decided to go for a photograph instead.
Well, an illustrator's life is not always as easy as many you think... I get very disapointed sometimes, but that's my life, that's what I do for a living and I must learn to deal with it the best way I possibly can. It is also good to make me aware that I am not always right, and that I cannot think that something is good just because I've put a lot of effort on it. Sometimes it is just not enough. Deal with that!
Esta é uma ilustração que eu fiz semana passada para a Veja. O tema era "Fazer dieta engorda", então eu pensei que seria legal usar o ideal de beleza da Vênus de Botticceli e acrescentei o acordeon para ilustrar o "efeito sanfona". O editor achou que não estava suficientemente óbvio, então coloquei uma balança na parte de baixo, como vocês podem ver na segunda imagem. Mesmo assim não foi o suficiente e eles decidiram-se por uma foto.
Bem, a vida de um ilustrador não é sempre tão fácil quanto muitos imaginam... Eu fico desapontada muitas vezes, mas esta é a minha vida, meu trabalho e eu tenho que aprender a lidar com isso da melhor maneira possível. Isso também é bom para me fazer ver que nem sempre estou certa e que não posso pensar que uma coisa é boa só porque me esforcei fazendo-a. Às vezes isso não é o suficiente. E durma-se com um barulho desses!

Because of the arrangements to move my studio to a new place (Yes!!!) I've lost my internet connection for almost 4 days... so my series of couples stopped for a while. I am sorry for that but I hope I can mend it with these lovely gals having fun together at a rock concert (well, at least that's the story I came up with to this drawing).Por causa da mudança do meu estúdio para um novo local (Oba!!!) eu perdi minha conexão de internet por quase 4 dias... então minha série de casais parou por um tempo. Peço desculpas mas espero compensar com estas duas adoráveis garotas curtindo um show de rock (bem, pelo menos foi a historinha que eu inventei para o desenho).
